WAND Legal Taxonomy Updates

Several times a year, our taxonomies are reviewed and updated. The most recently reviewed taxonomy is the WAND Legal Taxonomy.

The focus of this review was to expand both the State and Federal courts. While updating these branches, it became apparent that we needed to make Courts a top-level term.

Federal Courts were then separated into the United States District Courts and the United States Courts of Appeals. Bankruptcy Appellate Panels were added, with those individual panels listed. The United States Territorial Courts were also added.

State Courts now includes all of the State Supreme Courts. State Appellate Courts has become its own branch with those individual courts listed. State Trial Courts has also been expanded and now covers the Trial Court for each state and territory.

The updated WAND Legal Taxonomy now offers a foundation of 3,623 terms and 1,798 synonyms that can also be customized. It is designed to provide terms for both law firms and legal departments.

As with all WAND Taxonomies, the WAND Legal Taxonomy is available by itself or as part of the WAND Taxonomy Library Portal.
