Announcing the WAND Cannabis Taxonomy

The cannabis industry is emerging rapidly due to the legalization of medical marijuana in most states and the legalization of recreational marijuana in 11 states and Washington, D.C. It became apparent that there is a need for a cannabis taxonomy, not only for growers but for dispensaries as well. The new WAND Cannabis Taxonomy is designed to provide anyone in the industry the ability to tag and organize the documents generated from the processes involved from seed to sale. This taxonomy provides a foundation of 564 terms and 399 synonyms and can be customized to include terms specific to the facility.

The WAND Cannabis Taxonomy covers all aspects of the industry. Higher level terms include Cannabis Cultivation, Cannabis Products, Methods and Extraction, and Cannabis Testing.

The taxonomy also includes the topics of Standards, Documents, Laws and Regulations, Associations, and Inspections, The WAND Cannabis Taxonomy, as with all WAND Taxonomies, is available by itself or as part of the WAND Taxonomy Library Portal.
