Head Lexicographer

WAND, Inc. is looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated individual with a minimum of two years of experience in the taxonomy field and a Master’s in Library and Information Science to lead the ongoing development of a multi-lingual product and service taxonomy.

The idea candidate will:

• Have a strong understanding of common taxonomy standards, especially ANSI/NISO Z39.19
• Understand how to customize taxonomies to meet the needs of a variety of applications
• Take creative approaches to solving search and recall problems using taxonomies
• Be comfortable interfacing with customers on taxonomy related issues
• Have excellent communication and analytical skills
• Be organized and detail oriented
• Be respectful of others, constructive, and a team-player

Familiarity with relational databases, such as MS-SQL, is ideal, but not required, for consideration.

Fluency in more than English is a plus, but not required. Rather, an understanding of the nuances of translations and multiple language versions of a same taxonomy is helpful.
